Reimagining Pour Over Coffee Through Automation
Juni is an automated pour over coffee brewer that brings the precision of manual brewing into a fully automated experience. I led the product from early concept development through engineering, prototyping, and mass production, translating the techniques of a skilled barista into a repeatable mechanical system that delivers consistent, high quality coffee.

The Challenge
Pour over coffee is valued for its ability to produce a clean, flavorful cup, but consistently achieving that quality requires experience. Every brew depends on carefully controlling water temperature, flow rate, pour location, timing, and agitation. Small variations in technique can significantly change extraction and flavor.
The challenge was to translate these manual techniques into a fully automated system that could consistently produce café quality coffee while remaining intuitive to use, mechanically reliable, easy to clean, and practical for mass production.
Precision in Motion
At the heart of Juni's brewing system, a rotating brew basket works in harmony with a precision nozzle that travels linearly across the coffee bed. Together, they produce programmable circular and spiral pour patterns that closely replicate the technique of a skilled barista.
By synchronizing nozzle position, basket rotation, flow rate, and timing, Juni delivers even saturation and consistent extraction through a fully automated brewing process.
Designed for Better Brewing
Juni combines several systems to improve extraction and user experience:
Dual Brew Baskets for optimized single cup and batch brewing
Precision Heating for consistent water temperature
Vibration Assisted Agitation to improve extraction
Drip Stop Mechanism for a cleaner brewing experience
From Prototype to Production
Throughout development, I designed and evaluated numerous functional prototypes to refine brewing performance, product architecture, internal packaging, mechanisms, and assembly. Through extensive testing, we optimized variables such as water temperature, flow rate, pour patterns, and agitation to achieve a consistently exceptional cup inspired by Specialty Coffee Association brewing principles. Working closely with cross functional engineering and manufacturing teams, I helped evolve Juni into a production ready consumer product.
